The opening of the biggest battery storage project in Southeast Asia allows Singapore to surpass its 2025 energy storage development target three years ahead of schedule. Sembcorp, the developer of the 200MW/285MWh battery energy storage system, hosted the opening alongside Singapore’s Energy Market Authority.
It is complete with 800 containerised units of lithium iron phosphate battery cells and will be used to stabilise the grid to help balance the supply and demand of electricity on the grid, and for various ancillary services.
